Or should I say my sketchbook journey? I’ve made myself a sketchbook and I’ll be posting the sketches daily- check back often and let’s see where this takes us!

If you have been following our journey into sericulture, then you know we just had to bring the silk worms to the Dojhang to share with our Young Ninjas.  Here, you see a Master S.H. Yu Young Ninja Artist studying our latest project exploration. Join us on our journey and register for camp June 16 - 20, August 11 - 15 and August 18 - 22, 2008. And don’t worry- we’ll add more camps as needed! Be sure to bookmark this site for expressions and documentations of our learning in paper and textile arts and drawing.

Art Photo of the Week?!?

So just what are these dots?!? Is this my new “minimalist” phase?

No. These, my friends, are silkworm eggs. They are about a week “old”. Note the darker ones: they will hatch soon… Raven has already named them… Federico, Octavio, Anastasia… I forget the rest, she was rattling them off so quickly. In any event, they will be needing fresh mulberry leaves. Lots of them. Soon. Now. Fast. So, if you have any mulberry bushes (you know the ones: that bushy “weed” in the corner of your yard that you keep trying to uproot, only to be greeted by bright green, tiny leaves that unfurl in as little as three days after your attempt on its life? Yes, precisely that one) and you live near the spots I frequent… prune off a few branches of those tiny young leaves, rinse them in cold water, put them into a plastic bag and send them over our way. Then, join us on our journey into sericulture... The Young Ninjas at Master S.H. Yu’s Young Ninja Artists’ Summer Camp would really appreciate it. And so would we of course, as these overly-coddled arthropods are not only connected to my next branch of artwork but they are also a part of our latest semester in homeschooling… two other interconnected and changeable elements that make up JohannaLandia...
